I like to schedule 15 minutes of Me Time into my day (and my clients’ days!). Block off 15 minutes (or 5, if that’s more doable right now), of your day whether that’s in the morning before life gets hectic, in the afternoon as a reprieve from the day, or after work before you head home. This time is a space for you to just be.

Saying no can feel challenging, especially with loved ones but remember, taking care of yourself is not selfish but essential for a healthy and fulfilling life. It could be waking up 30 minutes earlier to go for a jog, doing a workout during your lunch break, or utilizing your commute time for physical activity. If finding large chunks of time is difficult, break your workouts into shorter sessions throughout the day. Even 10 minutes of exercise can make a difference in your overall fitness level.

Find creative ways to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine. Instead of thinking of exercise as a separate task, look for opportunities to move throughout the day. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walk or bike to work if possible. Garden. Swim. Dance. Every little bit of movement counts towards a healthier lifestyle.

  3. Mindful movement. Rather than throw yourself into a high intensity workout with the goal of tuning everything out, move in the opposite direction. Go for a walk or an easy hike. Stretch, foam roll or do yoga. Engage yourself in movement that allows you to fully connect to your body, head to toe.
